VAT on florist quotes: 10%, 20% and exemption

Florist quote showing 10% and 20% VAT breakdown

10%, 20% or VAT exemption: how to split VAT correctly on a compliant florist quote.

Updated on June 24, 2026·5 min read

VAT on a florist quote is not always single-rate: fresh flowers, durable materials and services may fall under different rates. A wrong rate or missing wording can weaken your document or spark disputes.

This guide covers the most common event-floristry cases and what must appear on the quote.

Contents

  1. Rates to know
  2. What the quote must show
  3. Example: wedding with two rates

Rates to know

  • 10%: cut natural flowers and plants (decorative use), under the conditions set by French rules.
  • 20%: hard goods (vases, structures), décor rental, certain service fees.
  • VAT exemption: mandatory wording "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI" — no VAT charged.

Official sources

  • impots.gouv.fr — Taux de TVA
  • Légifrance — art. 293 B du CGI (franchise en base de TVA)
  • Service-public.fr — Devis et facture

What the quote must show

Each line or block must show the rate applied. The quote displays excl. and incl. VAT totals, the rate per category (or a split by rate), and the 293 B mention when applicable. A single incl. VAT lump sum without detail is not enough for a binding document.

Example: wedding with two rates

  • Floral arrangements (cut flowers): €1,200 excl. VAT → 10% VAT → €1,320 incl. VAT
  • Arch + vase rental: €200 excl. VAT → 20% VAT → €240 incl. VAT
  • Client total incl. VAT: €1,560

Automate the math

Flolya splits excl./incl. VAT from your recipes: flowers, materials and services are typed once in your catalog — the quote inherits the right rates.

Frequently asked questions

Are all flowers at 10%?
No. The reduced rate applies to cut natural flowers and plants under the conditions defined by French law. Hard goods and some services are at 20%.
I'm VAT-exempt: what goes on the quote?
The exact wording "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI" and amounts with no VAT. Avoid ambiguous 0% VAT lines.
Can I show only an incl. VAT price to the client?
You can communicate incl. VAT to the client, but the contractual quote must show excl. VAT detail, rates and incl. VAT totals to be compliant.

Compliant quotes without manual math

Flolya applies the right VAT rates from your recipes and pre-fills legal mentions.
