Wedding florist prices 2026: what sets the price

Miniature 3D scene: bridal bouquet, table centrepieces, flower arch and a delivery van

There is no single price: the budget depends on scope, flowers, season, hours and logistics.

There is no single price for a wedding florist: the budget depends mainly on what is being decorated, the season, the hours of work and the venue logistics. Published figures run from a few hundred euros to several thousand, and only apply to a comparable project.

This article explains what makes up the price, gives dated and sourced reference points, then prices one wedding at two different scopes. It is useful for couples setting a realistic budget and for florists explaining a quote. The sources are French.

1. Scope: the first price factor

A bouquet and four buttonholes are not the same work as a full ceremony set, eight tables and an arch. Two quotes only compare if they cover the same pieces. Before discussing price, list what will be decorated: personal flowers, ceremony, tables, entrance, bar, photo corner.

Guest count matters mostly through the number of tables, since each table needs its own centrepiece. Large pieces (arch, floral cloud, flower wall) use many stems and a lot of time, and raise the budget faster than anything else.

2. Flowers and season

The varieties chosen and when they are available change the purchase cost. An out-of-season or sought-after flower costs noticeably more, especially when it has to be imported. Mariages.net, in its guide to bridal bouquet prices, calls season the most important factor when setting a budget.

For couples, flexibility on varieties is the simplest lever: a palette that leaves room for seasonal flowers lowers the cost without changing the intent. For the florist, it also protects the margin when wholesale prices move.

3. Labour: the price you cannot see in the photo

Ordering, conditioning stems, making, wrapping, loading: much of the work happens before reaching the venue. Even a bouquet, according to Mariages.net, takes forty-five minutes to an hour for a classic design and one to two hours or more for an elaborate one. The more personalised the piece, the more hours it needs.

4. Delivery, installation, teardown and travel

Transport, unloading, on-site installation, teardown and collecting vessels are real work, with a vehicle and time. They can be a separate line or included in the price of the pieces: what matters is that they are counted. A distant venue, stairs, restricted access or a late setup cost more than a venue reachable by car.

5. Which price references, and how to use them

There is no official French statistic for the price of a wedding florist. The available references come from wedding websites and vary with their method. Treat them as orders of magnitude, not as a rate to demand or apply.

Published starting prices and declared budget, indicative (sources below)
ItemPublished referenceSource
Average flower budget declared by couples (bouquet and venue decor)€950Mariages.net, updated 24 June 2025
Bridal bouquetfrom €40, about €100, over €200 for a luxury designMariages.net, updated 24 June 2025
Bridal bouquetfrom €65, €75 on average at this floristAtelier Lavarenne (Lyon), indicative prices
Arch decorfrom €150, €450 on average at this floristAtelier Lavarenne (Lyon), indicative prices
Guest table centrepiecefrom €40, €55 on average at this floristAtelier Lavarenne (Lyon), indicative prices

These are starting prices: they apply to a small piece, not to a large installation. At the same florist, the average arch decor costs three times its starting price. A dense fresh-flower arch, a floral cloud or a hanging installation is priced on quote, often far higher: size, flower quantity, structure and installation time set the price. These references do not always say whether delivery and installation are included, and ignore your region and your style.

6. One wedding, two scopes

In this example, a working assumption and not a market average, a wedding of 80 guests with eight tables is priced two ways. Prices are selling prices excluding tax, and the pieces include their making.

Hypothetical example: the price follows the scope
ItemEssentialComplete
Bridal bouquet€150€150
4 buttonholes€60€60
8 table centrepieces€680€680
Ceremony arrangementnot included€650
Vessel hirenot included€100
Delivery and transport€140€140
On-site installationincluded in delivery€210
Teardown and cleaningnot included€140
Total excl. tax€1,030€2,130

The €1,100 gap comes from the ceremony arrangement, vessels, installation and teardown, not from a higher margin. A detailed quote lets you explain that. For a private client the displayed price must be tax-inclusive: the applicable VAT depends on the studio and the services sold.

7. How to read a florist quote

When you receive several quotes, do not look only at the total. A lower price may come from a smaller scope, simpler flowers or an installation that is not counted. Ask each florist the same questions and note the answers side by side.

  • Which pieces are included, in what quantity and what size?
  • Are the varieties specified, or does the florist choose them according to season?
  • Are delivery, installation and teardown included, and at what times?
  • Who collects the vessels and loaned equipment, and when?
  • What happens if a flower is unavailable: substitution, prior agreement?
  • What is the tax-inclusive price, the quote validity and the deposit amount?

For florists, this detail also protects the studio: a precise quote avoids misunderstandings about what was planned and makes change requests easy to reprice. The price must cover the flowers, the hours of work, the travel and the overheads of the business, not only the purchase price of the stems. See the guide on arrangement pricing for the calculation.

8. Adjusting the budget without losing what matters

  • Keep one strong piece (ceremony or top table) rather than decorating everything halfway.
  • Choose seasonal flowers and let the florist suggest equivalent varieties.
  • Reuse pieces between ceremony and reception if the timing allows.
  • Limit the number of varieties per piece.
  • Ask for two quote versions, an essential one and a complete one, to compare.

For florists, a blanket discount leaves the same work with fewer resources. It is better to offer a reduced scope with its own total. Then check the profitability of each version against all costs, hours included.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average price of a wedding florist?
There is no official average. Mariages.net cites €950 as the average flower budget declared by couples (article updated June 2025). That is an average spend, not a rate: a wedding with an arch and a decorated ceremony and reception often costs much more.
What budget should I plan for wedding flowers?
Start from what you want decorated, the number of tables and the season, then ask for an itemised quote. An essential version and a complete version help you decide.
Why do prices vary so much between florists?
Scope, varieties, season, making hours, delivery and installation all change the cost. Two quotes only compare if they cover the same pieces and services.
Are delivery and installation included in the price?
Not always. They can be a separate line or included in the price of the pieces. Check the quote, along with teardown and collecting vessels.
How can I reduce the flower budget without spoiling the project?
Keep one strong piece, choose seasonal flowers, reuse pieces between ceremony and reception and limit varieties. A blanket discount is less clear than an adjusted scope.
